After flying high against the Academy for Urban Leadership Charter Jaguars on Wednesday, the Dunellen Destroyers came back down to earth. Dunellen took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manville on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dunellen has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Dunellen still got an impressive performance from Joel Cruz, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of William Ghanim, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Dunellen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Manville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunellen will challenge Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manville, they will head out on the road to face off against South Hunterdon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
