Battle Ground is 1-9 against Mountain View since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Battle Ground Tigers will be playing at home against the Mountain View Thunder at 5:15 p.m. Battle Ground has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Battle Ground fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against La Center on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Wildcats 37-33.
Battle Ground's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Valentine Micheneau, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Marissa Loveall who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Loveall continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ava Robertson was another key contributor, scoring no points along with 11 rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, Battle Ground smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mountain View ended up a good deal behind Evergreen two weeks ago and lost 58-40.
Despite the defeat, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: Mylee Thompson scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophia Wright, who scored six points along with two steals.
Battle Ground bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.3 points per game. As for Mountain View, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Battle Ground have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've been averaging only 30.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
