The Lakeland Christian Vikings had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by Discovery on the road to the tune of 55-20. That's another feather in the cap for Lakeland Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Lakeland Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Collette Zavada led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiya Boyce, who scored 7 points along with 8 steals and 6 assists.
Lakeland Christian's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Discovery, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-5 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Lakeland Christian will head out on the road to face off against Frostproof at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Discovery, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against McKeel Academy at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully McKeel Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Monday.
