Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Amelia County Raiders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against the Islanders on Friday, falling 57-18. Amelia County's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Perry, who picked up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Perry was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Todd Spurlock, who threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Amelia County's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Poquoson, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Amelia County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Poquoson will head out on the road to face off against Riverheads at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverheads is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
