Basketball Recap: Crown Point Comes Up Short

Crown Point lost against Lake Central back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Crown Point Bulldogs fell 36-27 to the Lake Central Indians. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Crown Point lost, don't look at Ivy Henderson. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Henderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Richie, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

It was another big night for Vanessa Wimberly, who put up 14 points and five steals for Lake Central. Wimberly has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Bryn Leonard was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Crown Point's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lake Central, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crown Point will take on Columbia City in a tournament on Friday. Crown Point is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Lake Central, they will be taking part in a tournament against Manual at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manual will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Lake Central surely won't give up without a fight.
