American lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Karissa Perrier, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Perrier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lajahnique Olive, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Goleman found their leader in underclassman Akayla Edwards, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Jasmin Brown was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
American has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Goleman, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American will take on the Cobras at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Miami comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Goleman, they will be playing at home against the Barracudas at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Coral Reef is ranked 332nd, while the Gators are ranked 316th).
