DuVal is 9-1 against the Wildcats since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, DuVal beat the Panthers 64-59. Given DuVal's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Panthers are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Northwestern's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight defeat. They fell to Walter Johnson 74-68.
DuVal pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything came up roses for DuVal against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 84-40 victory. With DuVal ahead 47-22 at the half, the match was all but over already.
