The Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-35 to Peabody-Burns. Marais des Cygnes Valley found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 21% worse than the opposition.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dalton Lingenfelter, who scored 10 points. Lingenfelter scored a full 28.6% of Marais des Cygnes Valley's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Landon Reed was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 3 steals.
Peabody-Burns found their leader in underclassman Jameson Miles, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. The match was Miles' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Hurst, who scored 14 points.
Marais des Cygnes Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Peabody-Burns, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marais des Cygnes Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southern Coffey County at 10:00 a.m. on December 9th. Southern Coffey County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Peabody-Burns won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hartford.
