Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Knightdale Knights proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rolesville by a score of 49-40. Given Knightdale's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Rolesville is ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Knightdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Green out in front who scored six points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Green is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Khaim Taylor, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Rolesville had strong showings from Michael Downing, who scored 14 points, and Anthony Roberts, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Cannon Marshall was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Knightdale has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Rolesville, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-14.
Knightdale will head out on the road to square off against Heritage at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Knightdale likes a good challenge. As for Rolesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Millbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Millbrook has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
