This season hasn't been kind to the Coral Gables Cavaliers, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 44-43 to South Dade. Coral Gables was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Dade apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.

Ravello scored a full 48.8% of Coral Gables' points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Veronica Trueba, who scored seven points.
South Dade found their leader in underclassman Genesis Aguilar, who scored 18 points along with seven steals and three blocks. The match was Aguilar's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Coral Gables bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for South Dade, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Coral Gables will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Miami at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
