Logan Waldrup was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Southwest Florida Christian got a great performance from Leo Montufar as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
Back at the plate, Lawson Polhill was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Long, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, LaBelle came up short against Fort Myers on Thursday and fell 7-2.
LaBelle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Murray, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ryer White also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Southwest Florida Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for LaBelle, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southwest Florida Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like LaBelle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
