The Hawthorne Cougars's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They took down Morningside 58-43. The victory was just what Hawthorne needed coming off of a 83-34 loss in their prior matchup.
Hawthorne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alfredo Ramirez, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakobi Smith, who scored 13 points.
Hawthorne's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Morningside, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Hawthorne will take on Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morningside, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Beverly Hills at 5:00 p.m. Beverly Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Morningside in California (Beverly Hills is ranked 315th, while Morningside is ranked 1349th).
