Softball Recap: Valley View Has No Trouble Against Hidalgo

Valley View barely beat Hidalgo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Valley View put the hurt on Hidalgo with a sharp 20-2 win on Saturday. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Kandy Ortiz and Genesis Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one double, while Sanchez got on base in five of her eight plate appearances with one double. Giselle Rangel was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one double.

Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Valley View now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Hidalgo, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coincidentally, Valley View and Hidalgo will both be playing Grulla the next time they take the field. Valley View will host Grulla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Hidalgo will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
