Basketball Recap: Springfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Varnado

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield). They claimed a resounding 69-27 victory over the Varnado Wildcats. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Culbertson, who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Culbertson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nickaiya Martin, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points and five steals.

Culbertson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Springfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Springfield pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Varnado, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
