Softball Recap: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Beats Carrollton for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Michigan Lutheran Seminary waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Carrollton Cavaliers a 19-0 shutout. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kerin Gardner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Roth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Laupichler, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Carrollton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
