The Le Mars Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 81-60 defeat to Jefferson might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Le Mars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Jefferson is ranked 25th).
Jefferson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Calabro out in front who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Dewaele, who scored 19 points.
Le Mars dropped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Le Mars didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-50 win vs. Spencer on the 9th. Jefferson has also already played their next matchup, a 78-51 win against Omaha Northwest on the 8th.
