Lake Howell has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lake Howell posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They put the hurt on Lyman with a sharp 64-40 win. Given Lake Howell's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Lyman is ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Howell's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mason Fritz, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Janiel De los santos, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals. Josiah Ortiz was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Central Florida Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. Their tough 82-61 defeat to Hagerty might stick with them for a while. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (58), Central Florida Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Lake Howell's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Lake Howell ended up a good deal behind Central Florida Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 60-44. Can Lake Howell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
