Etna have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will challenge Portola on the road at 7:30 PM on Friday. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
Etna found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 8-40 punch to the gut against Biggs two weeks ago. A silver lining for Etna was the play of senior Trevor Downey, who caught passes for 120 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Portola, and their match last Friday only extended their streak of losses to four. They have to be aching after a bruising 7-41 loss to Biggs. The state rankings had actually given Portola a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
