On Tuesday, Freire Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Belmont Charter, taking the game 45-34. The win made it back-to-back wins for Freire Charter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freire Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ibrahim Mahmoud, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Abdul Lo, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and two steals.
Freire Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Belmont Charter, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freire Charter and Kensington will face off at 3:15 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Kensington is ranked 489th, while Freire Charter is ranked 511th). As for Belmont Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Bodine at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bodine will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
