The Lemon Bay Manta Rays's five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They snuck past Venice with a 55-51 win. The victory was just what Lemon Bay needed coming off of a 70-46 loss in their prior match.
Cooper Benedict was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Gambrell, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Lemon Bay's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Venice, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Lemon Bay won't have much time to rest: their next game is against LaBelle at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (LaBelle is ranked 554th, while Lemon Bay is ranked 542nd). As for Venice, they will be playing at home against Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
