The Evangel Christian Lightning will head out on the road to face off against the Lakeside School Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Evangel Christian comes in on 15 and Lakeside School on 16.
Evangel Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Coosa Valley Academy 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lightning have posted since February 24th.
The team relied heavily on CALEB CRANFORD, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
CRANFORD wasn't the only one making solid contact: Evangel Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lakeside School gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Hope Christian Academy 14-2. Considering the Chiefs have won 28 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Boston Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Tyler Mark Bullock was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Evangel Christian pushed their record up to 24-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lakeside School, their record now sits at 45-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Evangel Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakeside School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Evangel Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeside School in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
