The Taylor Yellowjackets will square off against the Western Hills Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Taylor is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Deer Park on Friday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellowjackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Caden Bray made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Bray was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nick Paff was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Taylor is 2-1 when Paff posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise. Bradley Heckman was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past St. Bernard-Elmwood Place 3-1.
Robert Casey was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
The victory got Western Hills back to even at 7-7. As for Taylor, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
Everything went Taylor's way against Western Hills in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Taylor made off with an 11-4 victory. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
