Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Labelle

LaBelle won the last time they faced Ida Baker and things went their way on Tuesday too. The stars were shining brightly for the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls in a 66-48 victory over the Ida Baker Bulldogs. While the Cowboys/Cowgirls didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

LaBelle was led to victory by Arrie Davis Jr. and Giovanni Beaver. Davis Jr. dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Beaver went 5 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Davis Jr. is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Damion Santamaria, who posted five points and seven steals.

The win (which was LaBelle's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Ida Baker, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

LaBelle and Faith Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. LaBelle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Faith Christian likes a good challenge. Ida Baker will take on Fort Myers in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fort Myers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
