Softball Recap: Southlake Carroll Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Southlake Carroll had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Centennial on Thursday. Everything went the Southlake Carroll Dragons' way against the Centennial Bulldogs as the Southlake Carroll Dragons made off with an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aubree Shelton spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Emmy May and Jordan Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: May scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Stewart scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Stewart has posted since back in May of 2024. Scarlett Kuhn was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Southlake Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Southlake Carroll pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Southlake Carroll didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-0 victory against Eagle Mountain on the 27th. As for Centennial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-3 loss against Frenship on the 28th.
