The Calvert Senecas will take on the New Riegel Blue Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
New Riegel will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Calvert extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Senecas blew past Northwood 26-1. The contest marked the Senecas' most dominant victory of the season.
Ava Eilrich made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Rachel Spaun looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Shoenberger, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Grace Wood was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Calvert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, New Riegel's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let Woodmore get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Blue Jackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Karsyn Piper's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 20 Ks.
At the plate, New Riegel's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacqui Tiell, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Another was Lilly Schalk, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
New Riegel's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Calvert, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Calvert has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like New Riegel struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Calvert was able to grind out a solid victory over New Riegel in their previous matchup back in April, winning 3-0. Do the Senecas have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
