Make it seven blowout wins for the Mount Vernon Mustangs this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat The Weber School 74-27 on the road. Given Mount Vernon's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while The Weber School is ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Xavier Shegog, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sha'yah Goba, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Mount Vernon's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for The Weber School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon will take on Flint Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for The Weber School, they will stay at home for another game and welcome King's Ridge Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
