The Muleshoe Mules will head out on the road to face off against the River Road Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Muleshoe unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak two weeks ago. They were outmatched by Bushland at home and fell 56-26. Muleshoe was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.
Muleshoe's defeat came about despite a quality game from Daniel Sianez, who rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Sianez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. Nathan Martens also helped out as he racked up 120 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, River Road's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-0 loss at the hands of Bushland. While losing is never fun, River Road can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 961st, while Bushland is ranked 110th).
Having lost for the first time this season, Muleshoe fell to 6-1. River Road has not been sharp this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season.
Muleshoe beat River Road 14-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muleshoe since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
