The Graham Red Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Graham suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 81-45 defeat at the hands of Southeast Alamance.
Despite the defeat, Graham saw an underclassman step up: Micah Woods scored 29 points. That was a full 64.4% of Graham's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylan Sinclair, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey pushed their score all the way to 73 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 85-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast Alamance. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (56), Bartlett Yancey still had to take the loss.
Bartlett Yancey might have lost, but man, Matthew Sidney was a machine: he scored 31 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Sidney continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was James Jones, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Graham's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-13. As for Bartlett Yancey, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Graham, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-50 loss to Bartlett Yancey in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Graham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
