It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pontotoc can now relate to. They fell just short of the New Hope Trojans by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Morgan Pennington was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madi Collums, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 18-11. As for New Hope, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

While Pontotoc had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
