The victory was all the more spectacular given the Sentinels' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 228th in Maryland, while the Golden Tornado are ranked 82nd in West Virginia).
The win got Fort Hill back to even at 4-4. As for Southern, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.
