The biggest upset of the week belonged to W.S. Neal, who took down 104th ranked Bayside Academy, 44-42.
The Eagles moved up to 112 from 155 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 1. W.S. Neal climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Admirals 44-42.
5-foot-11 quarterback Chase Short of Straughn is the league leader in passing yards this season with 381. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Excel's Dekota Welker has rushed for 619 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Adkins. The Opp star has seven catches for 173 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Tigers take on T.R. Miller. Straughn's offense has scored 181 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 90 on the year.
A big matchup in 3A Region 1 this week will be when Trent Taylor's team takes on T.R. Miller. At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while Jamie Riggs' team is in first.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Southside, 48-18. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
