The La Quinta Blackhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Palm Desert Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Quinta has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
Last Thursday, La Quinta came up short against Shadow Hills and fell 56-44.
Palm Desert posted their biggest victory since December 19, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past Xavier Prep 75-43 at home. Given Palm Desert's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Xavier Prep is ranked 1045th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palm Desert's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kamrynn Nathan, who scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals, and Coby Christensen, who almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nathan has scored all season. Wil Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
La Quinta has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Palm Desert, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4.
La Quinta came up short against Palm Desert in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 63-50. Can La Quinta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
