The La Quinta Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Hemet at home by a decisive 78-61 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (56), La Quinta still had to take the loss.
Hemet's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Juaquin Martinez, who scored 23 points. The contest was Martinez's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quinton Skinner, who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
La Quinta has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Hemet, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Quinta will challenge Desert Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Desert Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. As for Hemet, they will head out on the road to face off against Ramona at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ramona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1105th, while Hemet is ranked 178th).
