After flying high against the Hibriten Panthers last Tuesday, the Alexander Central Cougars came back down to earth. Alexander Central suffered a tough 65-42 loss at the hands of Watauga on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Alexander Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Watauga is ranked 134th).
Despite the loss, Alexander Central still got an impressive performance from Chad Lasher, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Garison Millsaps, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Wyatt Kohout continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Watauga, scoring 22 points along with four steals. Jackson Pryor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Alexander Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Watauga, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Alexander Central will head out on the road to face off against Freedom at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Watauga, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ashe County at 8:00 p.m.
