The Lowell Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the Oakridge Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lowell is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Oakland hit Lowell with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell just short of the Oakers by a score of 9-8. Red Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Oakers since Friday.
Ben Thurman put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tanner Coiner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Adam Davis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Oakridge not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 12-2). They put the hurt on Camas Valley with a sharp 15-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.
Like Lowell, Oakridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Cole Walters. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Walters was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Oakridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory got Oakridge back to even at 6-6. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lowell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Oakridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lowell couldn't quite get it done against Oakridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
