The Montverde Academy Eagles came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Varsity Opponent on the road to the tune of 80-49. Montverde Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 24 points or more this season.
Montverde Academy was led to victory by Jaloni Cambridge and Chloe Sotell. Cambridge dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists, while Sotell scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sotell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaia Jackson, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Montverde Academy pushed their record up to 19-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 100-348 record this season.
Montverde Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Palm Bay at 7:00 p.m. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against Victory Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
