The Hayden Tigers lost against the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hayden fell 46-33 to Vail Mountain. Hayden has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Drew, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Cale Howard was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Vail Mountain found their leader in underclassman Grant Iverson, who scored 29 points. That's the first time this season that Iverson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Mills, who scored nine points.
Hayden has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Vail Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayden won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Plateau Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Plateau Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Hayden likes a good challenge. As for Vail Mountain, Vail Mountain and Aspen will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aspen will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
