Waukon had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. Waukon weren't too far behind, but the team still lost 20-24 to Decorah-North Winneshiek on Friday. The loss was a vexing one since Waukon was expected to win based on their state ranking. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Waukon off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Decorah-North Winneshiek a 1-0 record.
Next week, Waukon take on Crestwood at 7:30 PM. As for Decorah-North Winneshiek, they will face of against Xavier.
