Estero kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 21-16 to the Riverdale Raiders. Despite the loss, Estero still got an impressive performance from Maddox Stewart, who threw for 189 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. A healthy portion of Stewart's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Kegan Kreuscher.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Bataille, who rushed for 113 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Those 113 rushing yards gave Bataille a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lovensky Blanchard, who rushed for 133 yards on only 14 carries.
Coming up, Estero will welcome Aubrey Rogers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverdale, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on South Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
