Windsor has gone 9-1 against Roosevelt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Windsor Wizards will square off against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Windsor is headed out to face Roosevelt after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Windsor walked away with a 13-8 win over Severance on Tuesday.
Grant Kerber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Marcus Hull looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Windsor got a massive performance out of Ethan Fillinger, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Chris Valerio was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Severance only posted an OBP of .306.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Dakota Ridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Roughriders.
Israel Castillo made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Castillo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Bradberry, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Windsor couldn't quite finish off Roosevelt in their previous meeting back in June of 2021 and fell 6-4. Can Windsor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
