The Shaw Cardinals were the 72-63 winner over the Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Shaw took a 78-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Villa Angela-St. Joseph on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Wednesday (63), Shaw still had to take the loss.
Villa Angela-St. Joseph's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sean Shenker led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Quandell Wright, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Shaw's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Shaw will head out on the road to face off against Maple Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northeast Ohio College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
