Denver City waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Alpine Bucks with a sharp 11-1 win.

Andres Ornelas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Ornelas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Gavin Garcia was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. Joaquin Hurtado was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Denver City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Denver City pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Alpine, they moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Denver City will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tascosa at 7:00 p.m. Denver City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Tascosa's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Alpine, they will take on Seminole in a tournament on Saturday.
