If the Dublin Fighting Irish were riding high off their 57-24 takedown of the Jefferson County Warriors last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dublin fell to East Laurens 63-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), Dublin still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Dublin got some senior leadership from Tahara Diallo and Nahallie Turnley. Diallo scored 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Turnley. dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Diallo has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.
McKayela Tanner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Laurens, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Tanner hasn't dropped below four steals for five straight games. Jayla Givens was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Dublin's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-7. As for East Laurens, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.
Dublin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Laurens, they and Twiggs County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Twiggs County is coming into the matchup with 11 straight losses on the road, meaning East Laurens will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
