Lakeland Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Academy at the Lakes on the road and fell 57-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lakeland Christian saw an underclassman step up: Issa Simpson scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Kiya Boyce was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Meanwhile, Frostproof came up short against Hardee on Tuesday and fell 31-19. Frostproof has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shalayjah Robey put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored seven points.
Lakeland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Frostproof, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's game: Lakeland Christian have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.6 threes per game. It's a different story for Frostproof, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 threes per game. Given Lakeland Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Frostproof will need to find a way to close that gap.
