The Kings Mountain Mountaineers will head out on the road to challenge the South Point Red Raiders at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Kings Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Kings Mountain scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Forestview 93-43 at home. Given Kings Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Forestview is ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kings Mountain can attribute much of their success to Tucker Robinette, who scored 13 points along with five assists and four steals, and Bradley Floyd, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jordan Floyd, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, South Point pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Crest 63-57. South Point has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Graham Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Petty, who scored 11 points.
Kings Mountain pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for South Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Kings Mountain hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 70.4 points per game. It's a different story for South Point, though, as they've been averaging only 62.6 points per game. The only thing between Kings Mountain and another offensive beatdown is South Point. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Kings Mountain ended up a good deal behind South Point in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 61-47. Can Kings Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
