The Ellsworth Eagles will take on the Bangor Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellsworth will be strutting in after a win while Bangor will be coming in after a defeat.
Ellsworth took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against John Bapst Memorial as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Jasmine Emerton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Damon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Ellsworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bangor came up short against Brewer on Monday and fell 8-4. The loss was the Rams' first of the season.
Sophie Lynch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lynch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Abby Folsom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Bangor fell to 3-1. As for Ellsworth, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ellsworth has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bangor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ellsworth beat Bangor 8-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
