The Whetstone Braves won the last time they faced the Columbus International Lions, and things went their way on Friday too. Whetstone walked away with a 62-51 victory over Columbus International.
When it comes to explaining why Columbus International lost, one person who can't be blamed is KJ Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 56.9% of Columbus International's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Pharoahe Zaire was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Whetstone's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-13. As for Columbus International, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whetstone will challenge Mifflin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbus International, they will head out on the road to take on Beechcroft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beechcroft has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
