The Giddings Buffaloes had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Caldwell 50-36 on Friday. For Giddings, this counts as revenge for the 44-33 defeat Caldwell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Caldwell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyniah Johnson, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Avelynn O'riley, who scored eight points.
Giddings' victory bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Caldwell, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Giddings will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Austin Achieve at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caldwell, they will head out on the road to square off against Smithville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
