4A Conference 4 recap November 5, 2013
Charlotte Catholic added to the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 4 this week by beating Ardrey Kell, 49-24. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Cougars.
Olympic took down Harding University 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Providence's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb York threw for 75 yards and Austin Proehl had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Brian Mattar contributed 115 yards. Derek Brouse helped Providence's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 10 yards.
Mattar was a passing and rushing force as the Panthers defeated South Mecklenburg. Mattar's favorite target this week was Proehl, who caught 5 passes for 66 yards.
York put up the best numbers in passing as Providence bested the Sabres.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Justin Hardin's team's York and Proehl have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback York has thrown for 1,416 yards this season, while Proehl has 70 catches for 960 yards. Charlotte Catholic's Elijah Hood leads the league in rushing yards with 1,401.
Proehl of the the Panthers' is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 40 receiving yards in this week's game against Jim Oddo's team to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 70 catches for 960 yards.
At the moment, the Cougars are in second, while Providence is in third.
The Trojans led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Rams.
