Baseball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against Epiphany last Thursday, John Paul II Catholic came back down to earth. John Paul II Catholic fell just short of the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The Saints have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Luke Perry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

John Paul II Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Wake Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Paul II Catholic will face off against Wake County HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wake County HomeSchool will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something John Paul II Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wake Christian Academy, they will take on Cary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wake Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cary Christian has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
